CELL PHONE USE
From the Principal
Parents and Guardians: Please be reminded that FCPS regulations require student cell phones to be off and away during the school day. When parents call or text students during the school day and students access their phones to receive the call or text messages, the phone may be confiscated by school staff. I recognize that we live in a time of instantaneous communication. However, calls and texting during instructional time are a disruption. Please contact the main office if you need to speak with your child in the event of an emergency.

SAFETY FIRST
Parents and Guardians,
I need to request assistance from those of you who drive your children to school. As a reminder, our official Kiss and Ride drop-off is located at the rear of the building and is accessed via George C. Marshall Drive. In the back parking lot you are able to drop your child by door #4 or door #3, make a loop through the lot and then return to Leesburg Pike via Marshall Drive. While not perfect, this is the safest and most orderly means to handle the large number of parent drop-offs each day.
To support our effort for a safe and orderly opening of school each day:
Please DO NOT enter the campus by the auditorium, drop off your student, and immediately make a u-turn to return to Leesburg Pike.
Please DO NOT drop-off your child in the turning lane on Leesburg Pike. This is extremely unsafe and creates a dangerous situation for students and vehicles.
Please DO NOT enter the bus lanes prior to 7:30 a.m. You may receive a ticket for passing a school bus that is loading or unloading.
Please DO NOT make a left turn from the western-most entrance by the auditorium to the school where there is no stop light. There is a no left turn sign and you may receive a ticket.
Please DO NOT make a u-turn in the bus lanes and then drive the wrong way. The bus lanes are one-way, eastbound.
I recognize that traffic is heavy in the morning. If you choose to drive, please allow adequate time to arrive at Marshall no later than 7:10 so that your student arrives to class on time. Tardiness because of heavy traffic is not excused.
In advance, I appreciate your cooperation.
Jay W. Pearson
Principal, George C. Marshall High School
