GEORGE MARSHALL HIGH SCHOOL COMPETES ON  IT'S  ACADEMIC

A team of outstanding students from George Marshall High School of Falls Church competed with teams from St. Albans School of Washington and Springbrook High School of Silver Spring on IT'S ACADEMIC, the nation's foremost high school quiz program. The competition was spirited, and St. Albans won the match. The program will air Saturday, January 24, at 10:30 am on NBC4, Channel 4.

The George Marshall team consists of Captain Wiley Cole, Robin Crigler, and Zach Popkin-Hall.  Their faculty coach is Melissa Nicholson.

IT'S ACADEMIC has been recognized by Guinness Book of Records as “the world’s longest-running television quiz program.”  The program is sponsored by GIANT FOOD and the US ARMY.  Mac McGarry is the long-time host of  IT’S ACADEMIC.

Dear Friends of the George C. Marshall Media Center:

The holiday season came early for us because of your generous donations.  We have been working on updating the look and feel of our library and with your support you have helped us enliven this room for our students.  Come by the library and see what your donations have enabled us to buy – 3 brightly colored, youthful looking, comfortable, stylish lounge chairs and a birch wood cube table.

Thank you,

Your GCMHS Media Center Staff and the students of GCMHS

The Richmond Spiders will be playing Montana this Friday, December 19 at 8PM in ESPN2 for the National Championship!  There are 5 former George C. Marshall football players on the roster.  Tim Silver, Ryan Goss, Frank Howell, Doug Howell, and Chris Hurlburt.  Ryan and Chris each have sisters who are current Marshall student/athletes (Meara Goss and Lauren Hurlburt).  I am pretty certain this is the largest number of players we have had in one collegiate program at one time ever and they are going for the National Championship!
