  • GCM's Cyber Security Team is in the Finals!

Congratulations to the GCM Cyber Security team "Flying Bacon", who took 3rd place in Round 2 last week of the Maryland Cyber Challenge. And to “Murphy’s Law” (our other team) who took 8th place and just made the cut. So both teams are off to the finals on October 16th in Baltimore to battle it out with the six other finalists in the High School division!

Sponsored by SAIC & UMBC, this is a competition in 3 divisions: High School, College, and Professional. Teams from all over the USA competed, not just locals. Last year over 50 teams competed in the High School division. This year there were 800 teams competing in the High School division!

In the first round, Flying Bacon took 4th place and Murphy's Law took 6th place. Both teams progressed to Round 2, and are now headed for the final - Round 3.

After this competition, our Cyber Security teams will compete in the National competition with their first round on November 2nd.

Last year, the Marshall team took 7th place in the National competition, they’re hoping to move up this year!

The Cyber Security club has about 45 members. The Club is supported in part by sponsors TerraWi and, of course, the Marshall Academy! The GCM teacher overseeing the club is Jason Simeon.
