  • Seniors, log onto Family Connections (College Visits)

    From Mr. Rixse, who writes:

    Seniors,

It's come to my attention that some of you may not be logging on to Family Connections regularly to check on upcoming visits by college reps to the College & Career Center. A number of Virginia schools are coming in the next week or two (including Radford, VCU, UVa, Va Tech, and Mary Washington), as well as a number of out-of-state schools. Beyond the general information about a school that college reps provide in such visits, it's an excellent opportunity to ask individual questions about the things you are looking for in a college (such as particular departments, programs, campus attributes, etc.).

In addition, some colleges (more commonly private colleges, such as Elon, as opposed to the larger state schools) keep track of applicant attendance at such events and use that demonstrated interest as a factor in the admissions process.

To view the scheduled visits and sign up to attend, log on to Family Connections, click on the "Colleges" tab, and look under "Upcoming college visits".

Juniors, I included you on this e-mail too since college rep visits are open to both seniors and juniors.

Feel free to e-mail or stop by my office with any questions.

    Mr. Rixse
